ScribblerI won the January 2021 synopsis writing contest put on by Scribbler, a company focused on helping and providing tools for writers, for my YA contemporary fantasy novel titled Wake (Maelstrom #1). For purposes of confidentiality, I have not included it here.

National Undergraduate Literature ConferenceThree of my fiction pieces were accepted to be read at the National Undergraduate Literature Conference. "Chapter One: A Friendly Visit from Death" was accepted in 2011, the first chapter of a YA contemporary fantasy novel I am working on titled The Ruling Twelve: Death. "Prologue: The Liberation" was accepted in 2012, the prologue for Wake (Maelstrom #1), my YA contemporary fantasy novel mentioned above. Also for purposes of confidentiality, I have not included either of them as I hope to get both novels published soon. "Chapter One: Routine," listed below, was also accepted in 2012.

PhoenixI had a total of 2 fiction pieces published in the Phoenix magazine, the art and literary magazine published by Clark College. "Prologue: Compound Mysteries" was published in 2009, the prologue to a science fiction novel my sister and I worked on together titled Enter:Cyberspace. "Chapter One: Routine," published in 2010, is the first chapter of a fantasy novel I am working on titled Niyati. Please note that both pieces are published under my maiden name, Jessica Astle.
